The Journal of Agriculture (JoA) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. The journal recognises that critical evaluation, scientific discussion, and verification of research findings may continue after publication.
JoA encourages constructive, evidence-based scholarly discussion concerning articles published in the journal. Post-publication discussions provide an opportunity to clarify scientific arguments, examine research findings, identify potential errors, and contribute to the continuous improvement of scholarly knowledge.
All post-publication matters are handled fairly, objectively, and consistently with the journal's publication ethics policies, including Allegations of Research Misconduct, Corrections and Retractions, and Conflict of Interest. The journal follows the principles of editorial independence, confidentiality, accountability, and responsible scholarly communication.
Post-publication discussions may address methodology, data interpretation, the validity of conclusions, reproducibility, reporting quality, scientific limitations, and the implications of previously published research.
Submissions may also raise concerns regarding factual inaccuracies, inconsistencies in reported results, errors in data presentation, or possible breaches of research and publication ethics.
Comments must be relevant to the scholarly content of the article and should be supported by clear reasoning, appropriate references, or verifiable evidence whenever applicable. The journal distinguishes legitimate scientific disagreement from allegations of research misconduct, which require assessment under the relevant research integrity procedures.
Readers, researchers, authors, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments, scholarly critiques, or concerns regarding published articles by contacting the editorial office at:
Email: editor.joa.itscience@gmail.com
Submissions should include:
The title, author(s), and DOI or URL of the article concerned.
A clear description of the scientific issue, criticism, or concern.
Supporting evidence, references, data, or documentation, where available.
The submitter's name and institutional affiliation, where applicable.
The editorial office may request additional information or clarification when necessary. Submissions should be professional, respectful, and consistent with accepted standards of academic communication.
The journal welcomes good-faith reports from individuals who identify potential errors or research integrity concerns. All submissions will be assessed on their substance and supporting evidence.
The Editor-in-Chief or an appropriately designated editor will conduct an initial assessment of each submission to determine its relevance, scientific merit, factual basis, and compliance with the journal's editorial and publication ethics policies.
When necessary, the journal may seek advice from independent subject-matter experts or external reviewers. Any editor or reviewer with a relevant conflict of interest must disclose that interest and withdraw from the assessment when impartiality could reasonably be compromised.
The journal may decline submissions that lack sufficient scholarly merit, are unsupported by evidence, contain abusive or defamatory material, or do not contribute meaningfully to scientific discussion.
The submission of a comment or allegation does not, by itself, establish that an error or misconduct has occurred. Editorial decisions must be based on the available evidence and the applicable procedures.
When a post-publication submission raises substantive criticism or questions the methodology, interpretation, validity, or reliability of a published article, the original author(s) will ordinarily be invited to respond, where appropriate.
Authors should address the issues raised directly and provide relevant explanations, evidence, or references. Responses must comply with the journal's standards of academic integrity and professional conduct.
The journal may evaluate the comment and the corresponding author response together to ensure a balanced and scientifically informative discussion. Both submissions remain subject to editorial assessment, and the opportunity to respond does not guarantee publication.
The journal may proceed with an appropriate assessment or corrective action when necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record, even if a response has not been received within a reasonable period.
Accepted comments may be published as Letters to the Editor, scholarly commentaries, post-publication discussions, or other appropriate forms of academic communication.
Where technically feasible, published discussions and author responses will be linked to the original article to preserve context, accessibility, and transparency.
All contributions must comply with the journal's applicable editorial requirements, authorship standards, and publication ethics policies.
Concerns suggesting possible research misconduct will be handled in accordance with the journal's Allegations of Research Misconduct policy.
Research misconduct may include plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, inappropriate manipulation of figures or images, duplicate publication, inappropriate authorship attribution, manipulation of peer review, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other serious breaches of research and publication ethics.
Upon receiving a credible allegation, the editorial team will assess the available information and determine whether further examination is warranted. The journal may request explanations or supporting documentation from the author(s), consult independent experts, or contact the relevant author's institution or another appropriate authority when necessary.
The parties concerned will be treated fairly and given an appropriate opportunity to respond, subject to the requirements of confidentiality and the circumstances of the case.
An allegation will not be treated as established misconduct solely because it has been reported. Any editorial action will be proportionate to the evidence and consistent with the journal's applicable policies and relevant publication ethics guidance.
When post-publication discussion or subsequent examination identifies a material error, unreliable findings, or a potential breach of publication ethics, the journal will follow its Corrections and Retractions policy.
Depending on the nature, severity, and implications of the issue, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:
Correction: Publish a correction or clarification when an error can be appropriately addressed without invalidating the overall reliability of the article.
Expression of Concern: Inform readers of a significant unresolved issue when further assessment or investigation is necessary.
Retraction: Retract an article when the evidence and applicable publication ethics standards justify this action.
Institutional Referral: Refer credible concerns to the relevant institution or another appropriate authority when further investigation is warranted.
Other Appropriate Action: Take additional proportionate measures consistent with the findings and the journal's policies.
Corrective actions will be based on the available evidence and the outcome of the relevant assessment or investigation. Authors will be given an appropriate opportunity to respond where applicable.
Correction notices, expressions of concern, and retraction notices will clearly identify the affected article and will be linked to the original publication whenever possible. The original publication record and related notices will be maintained in a manner that supports transparency and traceability.
All participants in post-publication discussions, including authors, editors, reviewers, and individuals providing expert advice, must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, their judgment.
Conflicts may include financial interests, employment, consultancy, personal relationships, professional collaborations, institutional affiliations, or other competing interests relevant to the matter under consideration.
The journal will manage identified conflicts in accordance with its Conflict of Interest policy. Appropriate measures may include assigning an independent editor, appointing alternative reviewers, or excluding individuals whose impartiality could reasonably be questioned.
Editorial decisions will be based on scientific merit, supporting evidence, and applicable publication ethics standards, rather than personal, financial, professional, or institutional interests.
The journal will handle submissions, correspondence, supporting materials, and investigation records confidentially to the extent reasonably possible and consistent with applicable policies and legal requirements.
Information will be shared only with individuals or institutions that require it for editorial assessment, investigation, or the fulfilment of relevant obligations.
JoA is committed to treating all parties fairly and respectfully. Good-faith reporting of suspected errors or research misconduct will not, in itself, be grounds for adverse treatment. The journal does not tolerate harassment, personal attacks, or knowingly false allegations.
The journal will maintain appropriate documentation of post-publication matters to ensure accountability, consistency, and traceability of editorial decisions.
Records may include:
The date and nature of the submission or allegation.
The supporting evidence and relevant correspondence received.
The preliminary assessment and subsequent investigation steps, where applicable.
Requests for clarification and responses from the parties concerned.
Expert or reviewer assessments obtained during the process, where applicable.
Identified conflicts of interest and measures taken to manage them.
The rationale for editorial decisions and any corrective actions implemented.
Copies or records of published comments, responses, corrections, expressions of concern, and retraction notices.
Access to confidential records will be restricted to aauthorisededitorial personnel. Records will be retained in accordance with the journal's record-management practices, applicable policies, and legal requirements.
The editorial team is responsible for applying this policy consistently and documenting significant decisions and actions. The journal will periodically review its procedures to support continuous improvement in publication ethics and editorial governance.
A submitter or author who believes that an editorial decision was based on a material factual error or procedural irregularity may submit a reasoned appeal to the editorial office at editor.joa.itscience@gmail.com.
Appeals should clearly identify the grounds for reconsideration and include relevant supporting information. Where practicable, the appeal will be assessed by an editor or editorial representative who was not directly involved in the original decision.
The journal may provide updates to the parties concerned, subject to confidentiality requirements and the status of any ongoing investigation.
JoA recognises post-publication discussion as an essential component of responsible scholarly publishing. Through this policy, the journal seeks to encourage constructive scientific debate, facilitate appropriate correction of the scholarly record, and ensure that credible concerns regarding published research receive fair and timely consideration.
The journal is committed to applying its policies consistently, maintaining appropriate records of editorial decisions, managing conflicts of interest responsibly, and protecting the integrity of the scientific record.
All post-publication matters will be handled in accordance with this policy and the journal's related publication ethics policies, with due regard for fairness, evidence, confidentiality, and editorial independence.
