Induction motors are critical components in electrical and industrial systems, often operating continuously. Long-term operation can lead to temperature increases caused by overloads, cooling system failures, or energy losses within the motor components. Undetected overheating can degrade performance, accelerate the deterioration of coil insulation, and disrupt operational continuity. Therefore, a temperature monitoring system capable of detecting thermal changes is essential for facilitating maintenance and preventing damage to induction motors. This research aims to design and develop a prototype temperature monitoring and overheat protection system using a thermocouple sensor. The research methodology includes problem identification, a literature review, system design, hardware and software development, and testing to evaluate temperature measurement capabilities. Testing was conducted by applying heat to the sensor probe tip and comparing the readings displayed on a 16×2 LCD with measurements taken using a standard thermometer. The test results indicate that the prototype is capable of detecting temperature changes and displaying the measurements on the LCD. At six test points, the device recorded temperatures of 23, 32, 42, 53, 67, and 73°C, while the thermometer recorded 25, 35, 45, 55, 70, and 75°C. These discrepancies suggest that further evaluation is required to improve the system's measurement accuracy. Overall, the prototype has successfully implemented the fundamental functions of temperature monitoring. Further testing is necessary to validate sensor accuracy, evaluate response times, and ensure that the protection mechanism functions correctly according to established temperature thresholds. This system is expected to support the thermal monitoring of induction motors and enhance the effectiveness of preventive maintenance.
